Setting Spacing with Elements

Hello!
I'm trying to change the spacing on my pages and posts with elements (what came with the Avery theme is something different than what I'm looking for) and not having much luck.
I would like to be able to adjust the space between my main content and right sidebar element (maybe 60 px) as well as adjust the padding to the left of the content and right of the sidebar (20 px) to see what looks best.
Can I use elements to do this or is there another way? Using the customizer for spacing wasn't doing the trick either.

Hi Leslie,
Could you try using separate container instead of one container? In that case, the gap would be more obvious to adjust.
The setting is at customizer > layout > container > Content Layout. And you can also try adjusting the Separating Space.
