SEO pllugin VS Generatepress conflict - Titles

Hello,
I'm using SEO framework plugin, and I have some issues with meta title and meta title additions of pages. Google search results don't come back as expected (as set up) in some configurations, mainly when changing meta tile position - left/right.
Plugin author suggested it is most likely that theme is interfering with these, as it has "last word" in such matters. So my question is, how is it handled by GP? Is it up to this standards?: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2014/10/29/title-tags-in-4-1/

GeneratePress uses the latest standards: https://github.com/tomusborne/generatepress/blob/2.4.1/functions.php#L33
The theme isn't doing anything special when it comes to title tags, meta descriptions or tags.
Are they sure it's a theme conflict?

They were highly suspecting it, but now they are investigating for other cause.
Hopefully they're able to get it sorted :)
