Sections & Columns

Hi,
I am using Sections and Classic Editor. The first section is an opening paragraph, and the 2nd and 3rd sections I want to be columns. I had found another post here for doing the columns, but it included that opening section as well, which I don't want. I want that to be full width. Is there a way to do that with css for these sections?
Thanks!
One more item I'm trying to sort out is changing the widths of the footer widget areas. I want 40% 20% 20% 20%. I tried adding the filters to my functions in my child theme from these two posts:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/footer-widgets/#choosing-different-widths-for-each-widget-area
and
https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/footer-widget-width-size/
but neither seem to be doing it.
Hi there,
Have you considered using Gutenberg and GenerateBlocks?
The Sections module is really the old way of doing things now so I really wouldn't recommend it.
The container and grid blocks from GB should completely replace the need for Sections and creating columns:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/grid-overview/
Please open a new topic for the footer widget widths question.
Thanks!
I really didn't want to move to Gutenberg, but I'll take a look.
Gutenberg takes a bit to get used to but it's definitely the way to go especially with the emergence of GB.
