I installed the section addon, but it doesn’t show in customized.
What to do?April 14, 2015 at 3:38 pm #98573Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Karin,
The Sections add-on doesn’t add anything to the Customizer, it adds a new metabox to your pages.
Take a look at the video here: http://generatepress.com/downloads/generate-sections/
Let me know if you have any questions π

Hi Tom
Thank you for your help. I think I understand now π
What I was really looking for is the possibility to add images to my front page in a slider and in rows with text content as well. I have seen that in other themes where it is possible to move the sliders around at the page.
I like your theme very much in any other way and hope you can help me with featuring the images as well πSincerely

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Karin,
Maybe you’re looking for some sort of page builder? This one is compatible with GP: https://wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/

Hi Tom
Thank you so much for the advice to page builder plugin. I have installed it and the additional plugins required (SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and Black Studio TinyMCE Widget) and it is fantastic and just what I needed!
But after installing the plugins I lost access to the theme (site not found) and can no longer use the customizer in Generate Press.
What would you suggest – should I deactive the plugins again?Karin

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperWhich plugins? What happens when you try to access the Customizer? Any errors?
By lost access to the theme, do you mean your entire site? Or?

I had to install these plugins to work with the page builder:
SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle and Black Studio TinyMCE WidgetWhen I try to access the custumizer in the theme I get the message: Page not found.
Before installing the page builder plugins there was no problems, so I figure it has something to do with this and now I dont know what to do π
Hope you are able to help me π

I still have access to everything else at my site – only not the customizer to the theme

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHmm, you can try going to “Settings > Permalinks” and hitting save (no need to change anything).
If that doesn’t work, it means there’s a bug in one of those plugins and you may need to find an alternative.

Unfortunately it didnt help any π
Can I try to deactivate the plugins one by one and see if it helps?
And will my work still be there if I activate them again?April 18, 2015 at 9:26 am #99838Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperYes, your work will still be there if you deactivate and activate again.
If the problem plugin is only affecting the Customizer, then you can deactivate it when using the Customizer, and activate it again when you’re done in there.
It would be good to tell the developer that their plugin is causing the Customizer to break as well.

I found it! It was the plugin you recommended at first – page builder by site origin.
So now I can deactivate it when I need to use the customizer and activate it afterwards.
I will contact the developer of the plugin and tell about the problems it causes.Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!!!
