Search results layout broken by html

A site search returns results that breaks the layout because the search result excerpt truncates html <table> blocks. Ideally I'd like the options to
- Filter out selected HTML
- Automatically close the truncated HTML blocks
- Truncate before or after the HTML block
Or is there another option?
Thank for that, which enable me to look for, and find the Advanced Exceprt plug-in. On enabling it, without any further configuration, it solved the problem, and I now have nice search engine results.
