Hi there,

When I search for 'pat', pages with 'pattern' show.
How do I avoid this?
I want no results found as the outcome when I search for 'pat'.

I appreciate your guidance.

Hi there,

the default WP search is really basic, it can be manipulated - are you wanting search results to only appear if whole words are matched ?

Yes, whole words only will make more sense for our content.
Can you please share how we can do this?

I would recommend using a search plugin, the one built into WP isn't particularly great and making an exact phrase search is really hit and miss.

I see a lot of users working with these which come in free versions:
