Hi
The new version of Yoast (11.0) includes “Schema”, would be correct to disable Schema from the theme? (to avoid duplication). Now, if I test my site using the Google Tool I have good and coherent Schema information. I have not updated Yoast yet.
Thanks

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIf you’re using JSON+LD (in Yoast or elsewhere), it’s not a bad idea to disable the theme microdata.
You can do so with this function: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_schema_type/

How do I know if that is in use?

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIf what’s in use? The schema from Yoast? I assume they have a setting in their plugin you can check.

You can check by reading the source code or using Google Tool: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/
If the snippets from GeneratePress are there and you want to use Yoast or other, then you apply the filter recommended by Tom.

Aha. I remember I deactivated the option in Yoast a year ago coz it was causing issues with the links shared in google plus back then. But just to ask, between the theme’s schema markup and Yoast’s, which is better?

Visit Yoast site, they have a recent post.April 20, 2019 at 1:09 pm #874504Alain Aubry
Hi Tom
I still have a problem with this, I used the filter recommended, for the most part it is fine.
The plugin “WP Show Posts” is also including Schema snippets.
I don’t know if I have to disable those and leave Yoast do everything it by itself.
Anyway, I don’t know how to disable them.
Thanks

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperWP Show Posts doesn’t currently have an option to remove the schema. I’ll try to get that done in the next version.
