Right sidebar not getting saved
9 replies · Started by Chintan on November 7, 2022
Hi
I'm trying to save the right sidebar, but it repeatedly shows the error "This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed." I also can't manage to get the right sidebar saved. I didn't have the Gutenberg plugin activated at any point, but now I also deleted it. Can you please help me fix the issue. Thank you :)
Chintan
Hi there,
1. Is this an issue only in the right sidebar? What about other widget areas?
2. Does the issue happen with all plugins disabled and the parent theme activated (no custom functions etc)?
Let me know :)
Hi Leo,
1. Yep only the right sidebar. The left sidebar updates worked just fine, for instance.
2. Yep the issue happens with all the plugins disabled and the parent theme activated as well.
Thanks,
Chintan
Hi Chintan,
Do you have a staging site we can do some tests? Or, can we try saving the right sidebar on your live site to test?
Can you provide admin login credentials if so? Please use the Private Information field for this: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-premium-support-forum/#private-information
Hi Fernando,
You can try saving it on the live site itself. I have not enabled the right sidebar layout on the website.
Sure, I shared information with you in the private info field. Thank you!
Hi there,
we're not ok with making potentially breaking changes on a live site.
Quick question - what block or blocks are you trying to add to the Right Sidebar ?
Hi David,
I've tried using paragraphs, the legacy TOC once, latest posts, and an image block. Okay I added the details for the staging website now. As of my last usage, it was reproducing this issue.
Best,
Chintan
I just activated WP Twenty Twenty to test and the footer widget #1 is having the same issue:

Can you confirm if that's the case for you too?
The widget area is entirely handled by WP so I don't believe this would be a theme issue.
Okay I didn't know that we could actually create a sidebar with GenerateBlocks. Now on it :)
Sounds good.
You might still want to figure out the issue with the widget area though - it's quite strange.
