Retro installing a child theme, now what?

Hi, I have installed the child theme developed by Adrian at WPcrafter. He suggests that having a child theme is a best practice insurance policy against updates.

Fine but what do I do next?

I have made most of my website already on the GP parent theme using beaver builder with woocommerce.

Is there a tutorial that instructs me what to do?

Im not able to code (hence Beaver Builder).
