What are best practices for resizing my post images before uploading?

For example, what do I need to consider to determine the width?

Hi there,

Resizing them so they are as big as or a bit bigger than the actual container should generally work.

Just to clarify: Should make my images the same size or larger than the width of the actual post content area OR the container size?

Post content area should be fine.
