Hi, currently my website uses GeneratePress theme and Elementor as the pagebuilder. I would really like to remove Elementor and use GB Pro instead but I’m not sure the best way to do this. Do you think it’s less problematic for me to start with a clean install of WordPress, GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks Pro, then import all my images, rebuild from scratch, copy and paste all the text, import all my posts, and migrate the site when ready? Or should I clone my website as it is, rebuild each page using GB Pro and then delete the Elementor plugins, and then migrate? I want all the website menus/page names etc to remain as they currently are.

Also my hosting provider advised me not to use a staging site for this as the changes were too big?

I’d be very grateful for any advice.

    Hi Nicola,

Or should I clone my website as it is, rebuild each page using GB Pro and then delete the Elementor plugins, and then migrate?

I would say the above option in a staging site environment is the way to go.

Also my hosting provider advised me not to use a staging site for this as the changes were too big?

Not sure why they would say this.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Leo, thank you for this. I forgot to mention that I will most likely upload one of the GP starter sites for this, would you say I should still go with the staging approach? Or, in this instance, would it be better to start the build from scratch?
    Thanks,
    Nicola

I would say staging is still the way to go.

Maybe give it a shot first and see how it goes? Trial and error is usually the best way 🙂
