Reorder categories

The categories seem to list alphabetically on my posts, I want to reorder them so the primary category always lists first with the "child" category following it. It should be clear what I mean if you look at my site link.
For example Nature>Cosmos, Philosophy>Metaphysics etc

I'm not sure if that's possible.
We're using this WP function to output the categories: get_the_category_list()
Looking at the function, I'm not seeing a way to order them unfortunately.
You could try a plugin like this, but I have no idea whether it will work or not: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/

Not sure you'll see this, but I found a sneaky way to fix alpha order without a plugin. Our primary category was Sales, which came at the end, alphabetically. I edited it in Admin Panel - Posts - Categories - Quick Edit to All Sales and, just like magic, it's now at the top of the list!
Thought this could help someone else even though it's a bit sneaky and certainly not at all technical!!
