I am not using child theme and I have pasted the code in functions.php of the main theme.

Btw it’s not a good idea to modify function.php if you are not using a child theme, all the modifications will be erased when it’s been updated.

thank you team.
I just used the child theme, initially the css broke on the live site, but after copy pasting it from the parent theme additional css to child theme additional css the design issue was fixed.

Next I pasted the code in function.php of child theme and boom!!! it worked like a charm.
Links from author and date in comment section vanished.
