Remove theme footer to use element

Hi,
Fairly new to GP, struggling with the footer. GP comes with a footer but I want to add a new one using an element and generateblocks.
Adding the new one works ok, but I can find no way to remove the footer that was there initially. I have removed all widgets. Now its very short with just "© 2021 ??? • Built with GeneratePress"
Any help appreciated.
Hi John,
Are you are using a block element to create the new footer?
If so, choose Site footer as block type, it will replace the default footer.
