Remove featured image from the top of all posts and pages, but keep metadata

I have the featured image displayed on every single page and post, on top.

If I use the Disable Elements extension to the theme, I can disable the featured image element per page / post.

However I think there should be an option somewhere to stop it from displaying, even if set?

I still want social sites to pick up the featured image when sharing from metadata (og: etc) – but I don’t want the image to be showing to viewers on top of the page.

How can I do that?

go to Customizer > Layout > Blog –> Featured Images >>> Posts where you can uncheck Display Featured Images:
