Reduce Menu for Phone in Landscape

This applies to phones in landscape and small tablets like iPad mini etc.
A phone in Portrait mode shows the mobile menu but in Landscape it shows the full menu on two rows which takes up a chunk of screen space.
Is there a trick to reduce this please?
