[Resolved] Read more link is missing

Hi!

I have two installations of WordPress with GP, and one site shows the excerpt and the Read more links correctly, http://www.lomejordeviajar.com.es , and the other site doesn’t.

In the other hand, i could change in the second site the number of words but ever shows the same number. ( https://www.voyanyc.com .

Any idea?

Hi there,

looks like you’re using the Custom Excerpt on the Voyanyc site.
The Excerpt Word Count does not apply to Custom Excerpts. And to add the Read More button this article explains:

I don’t understand… Both sites are mine, and I’m using the custom excerpt on both websites. I don’t add extra code on lomejordeviajar. I’m looking the setup options on lomejor and voyanyc and i don’t see any difference.

When custom excerpt is used, the code David linked to is definitely needed to show the read more button/link.

And can you explain me why in lomejordeviajar I could see ‘Read more’ link and the excerpt?

It doesn’t look like it’s using the custom excerpt metabox and it’s just using the default excerpt with word count in the customizer:

Correct Leo. I’m using the default excerpt with word count in customizer in both sites. But in voyanyc the word count and read more links doesn’t works.

Most of the posts I see in that site is likely using the excerpt metanox as seen here:

Thanks Leo! I’m so sorry, but i’m afraid i didn’t understand what did you mean when you said that voyanyc was using ‘custom metabox excerpt’. I thought that was some type of html or css code added by miself. Thanks for the link, Now I know how to solve it 🙂
