Hi there,
Your reference site is using a custom sprite as part of the blockquote element styling.
It's using this - https://www.brainpickings.org/wp-content/themes/brainpickings/images/sprites@2x.png
It's using it as a background-image and adds padding to it so it looks aligned.
Do you have a image file for your preferred quote mark uploaded to your site? Perhaps we can use that for the CSS writeup.
