I am planning to use the Article starter site.
During testing the article theme
1) I found that in the blog section even though I uncheck display post author, it still shows author name. Is it a bug?
2) Is there a way for us to move the author name at the end of the article instead of at the top?
3) After the author’s name there is a / that shows on top of the article. Can we remove the / somehow as its suppose to be author name / date but we don’t want to show date?
December 4, 2021 at 3:37 pm #2038564YingStaffCustomer SupportHi Rohan,
1) Do you mean the author name on the single post page?
If so, you should be able to see a notification in the customizer :
It’s added by a block element – page hero, you can find it at appearance > elements > Single Posts Hero, you can remove the author from there.
2) Yes, you can add author name to the footer meta of the post using this snippet:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_footer_entry_meta_items/
Adding PHP: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-php/3). That’s in the block element – page hero, same to 2) you can remove it from there.
Let me know if you need further assistance π

December 5, 2021 at 7:09 am #2038958DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
if you select the Author text in the Block Element, then in the Headline Blocks > Toolbar select the Dynamic option:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/dynamic-data/#dynamic-text-type
And there you will see a Before text field for you to add that content.
December 5, 2021 at 3:57 pm #2039416RohanHi there,
Thanks for that.
Can you please let me know how to we remove the whole section where it says ” Get Your Message Across
A bold site for writers and small businesses.” so we can show our image just below the header? Also, is there a way we can have a full width home page but blog pages and other pages will have space on the side?
Thanks
RohanDecember 5, 2021 at 5:06 pm #2039442ElvinStaffCustomer SupportHi Rohan,
Can you please let me know how to we remove the whole section where it says β Get Your Message Across
A bold site for writers and small businesses.β so we can show our image just below the header? It’s added by a GP Block element which you can find on Appearance > Elements. There’s an element named “Home” on the list. That’s the one adding the “Get Your Message Across A bold site for writers and small businesses.” section. You can remove it by deleting this element.
If you wish to delete the page hero section on the entire site, you may have to delete the element named “Global” as well as this is also a page hero section but it’s for the rest of the site. π
Also, is there a way we can have a full width home page but blog pages and other pages will have space on the side?
That’s definitely possible. You can do it with a Layout Element. https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-element-overview/#content-1
Create a Layout Element and set “Full width (no padding)” on it’s Content tab. You then set the display rule location to “Front page” so it only applies to the home page. π
December 5, 2021 at 7:07 pm #2039505RohanThanks for that.
Is there a way to position buttons from left to center? I have created full width layout and I also have buttons but the position of buttons needs to be fixed. When I click on button, it doesnt seem to have left, center, right like a text would?

December 5, 2021 at 7:25 pm #2039522ElvinStaffCustomer SupportAlso, Customizing βΈ Layout> Footer but I cant see copyright section to change date and remove generate press logo.
You can change this by enabling the Copyright module on Appearance > GeneratePress.
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/changing-the-copyright-message/Once activated, go to Appearance > Customize > Layout > Footer. You should see a text field for the copyright message. π
