Put menu bar BEHIND elementor section OR eliminate GP menu

Hi, my goal is to have a transparent menu bar over my hero image, which will feature a picture with some text and a button overlaid on top. I will create this section using Elementor since its fairly easy. The problem is that this section only begins below the menu bar. I want it to show up behind it, not below.
Is there a way to do this in GP? Negative margin perhaps?

Alternatively i could create a custom menu bar using the Elementor widget. But how would I use this custom menu bar and remove the GP menu bar? I can't seem to do it in the customizer.
