Hi Tom,

After searching the GP forum, I found this post: Profile Avatar

Unfortunately, it doesn't answer the question of how one goes about adding a custom avatar image to GP's user account profile.

Does the proposed image have to be sent to GP and they upload it?

That's the only thing that comes to mind.

Yeah I wondered too, so I copy pasted the url to Toms avatar in my browser and noticed the host is gravatar.

Follow this and you'll set the avatar once and 4 all.

I'm using this plugin. It works well for me...
