I upgraded from 1.3.44 to 1.3.46 and I am having an unexpected change in some character sizes.
The main menu character got smaller. Also some widgets header and content got smallers.
Take a look at my main page http://lelaurier.net/
The menu items used to fill the whole black menu bar, now it is smaller.
Take a look at the blog page http://lelaurier.net/communaute/communiques/
The 3 boxes in the right widget area used to have larger characters in both the header and content.
These are shortcode from Shortcodes Ultimate.
Anu idea why?GeneratePress 1.3.46March 17, 2017 at 6:05 pm #293670LeoStaffCustomer SupportMarch 17, 2017 at 6:11 pm #293675Louis
No, no caching plugin.
BTW, the behavior is the same with Chrome on Windows and Safari on iPad. So no problem with caching at browser level.March 17, 2017 at 6:21 pm #293676TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
I’m not seeing anything out of the ordinary – I would have to see how it looked before to know what’s going on.
The menu items get their sizing from these options: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/menu-item-height-width/
As far as I can see, your menu item sizing matches the values you have set in there.
As for the widget areas, I’m not seeing any conflicting CSS at all. It all looks pretty good?
I took a look at your site using Way Back Machine, and couldn’t see any differences between now and the last cached date either.March 17, 2017 at 6:29 pm #293677Louis
Thanks for the quick reply.
Nothing look bad bad as you said but the Characters are smallers.
I did take a backup before upgrading to 1.3.46.
I will save images of these 2 screens with 1.4.6 and than restore and take some images with 1.3.44
I will get back to you…March 17, 2017 at 6:48 pm #293680Louis
OK, I am back to 1.3.44
Have a look at the before upgrade image:
1) Menu line is all filled.
2) “Communiqués par catégorie” is bigger and contains of box is bigger.

Are you sure you’ve completely cleared your browser cache? I’m seeing some things that looked cached (no spacing to the right of the menu item arrows for example).March 17, 2017 at 7:02 pm #293687Louis
No, I did not clear the browser cache after uograding to 1.3.46 neither after restoring to 1.3.44
As I said before I do have the same behavior in Chrome on Windows and Safari on iPad, so cache should not be the problem.
Not sure what you means by “I’m seeing some things that looked cached (no spacing to the right of the menu item arrows for example).”March 17, 2017 at 7:03 pm #293688Louis
Did you have a look online at http://lelaurier.net/communaute/communiques/?March 17, 2017 at 7:38 pm #293693TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
The only difference I’m seeing is the live version doesn’t have the “Gestion” menu item.
Other than that, the screenshot and what I’m seeing are identical.
If you’ve visited your site on your iPad, it will be cached as well. It’s worth clearing the cache just to check (only takes a second).
Also, go to “Appearance > Menus” and re-add the “Gestion” menu item. Not sure why that would have gone away, GP has no control over the menu items you’ve saved in the WP menu system.
Let me know 🙂March 17, 2017 at 7:47 pm #293696Louis
You can’t see the Gestion Menu because you are not logged in. (It is still there)
Have you look at the diffence between the 2 images in my previous post?
How the “Communiqués par catégorie” is bigger and contains of box is bigger in version 1.3.44 versus 1.3.46.
It is OK in 1.3.44 as it is the same size as “Tous les communiqués” Button. In 1.3.46 these are different size and that look ugly….
Thanks for investigating some more what could cause that.March 17, 2017 at 7:52 pm #293697TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
Here’s what I’m seeing: https://www.screencast.com/t/eisAIB5XIi
The titles are the same size, and text is larger.
Have you tried the cache thing yet? If it doesn’t work then we can look into other possible causes 🙂March 17, 2017 at 9:13 pm #293703Louis
You are right… what you see online is version 1.3.44 which render OK.
It is the 1.4.6 version that is wrong. Here
I will reinstall 1.4.6 and clear cache tomorrow. I will let you know.
I am going to bed… it is more that midnight in Montreal.March 17, 2017 at 11:05 pm #293714TomLead DeveloperLead Developer
I made sure to check the version first – it was 1.3.46 when I took the screenshot.
I’ll keep 1.3.44 open so I can directly compare once you update again.
Have a great night 🙂March 18, 2017 at 6:18 am #293811Louis
I did reinstall 1.3.46.
1) Same behavior than yesterday: Some characters are smaller
2) Clear the cache : Rendering is now OK (You were so right!)
I am so sorry to have wasted your time.
I have questions:
Would all my users see the same rendering?
Would they all have to clear their cache?
Any way in WordPress to force a refresh on all users?
Thanks again for the great support!
