    Hello,

I have a total of 3 problems that I can’t deal with and I’m really asking for help. The problems relate to posts that have been created using Elements in GeneratePress and I have also used GenerateBlocks to create them. I will try to describe them my problems in detail below.

    First problem:
The problem relates to the previous and next article. When we enter, for example, the latest post of a category, the name “Następny artykuł / Next article” remains empty at the bottom. – https://prnt.sc/2dW2yZ1slKwt
    https://prnt.sc/Dh9hyg0RY1b7
You can see the problem on these pages:
    https://www.extra-plonsk.pl/venom-co-to-znaczy
    https://nerdomancer.pl/jak-wylaczyc-lektora-dla-niewidomych-w-telewizorze-samsung/
On the other hand, if we go into the latest post this problem does not occur which is very strange. https://prnt.sc/kHcgHiS2T2Hzhttps://www.extra-plonsk.pl/co-powinien-umiec-5latek
I would like to point out here that there are scheduled posts on my sites and the screenshots I have posted may not remain up to date. To check the first situation, go to the latest category and select the latest post.
In the second case, go to the home page and select the first post that appears (this is the situation where next / preview works fine).

    Second problem:
The second problem is also related to the previous and next article but is related to sites that have two categories (parent and subcategory).
Let’s assume we are on this post – https://swojewdomu.pl/jak-zrobic-dach-jednospadowy/

This entry has a main category “Budowa / Construction” and a sub-category “Dach / Roof”. – you can see this very well in the breadcrumbs – https://prnt.sc/BXN8djZY1dBh

    And what is the problem?
The problem is that I would like to link to articles only from the subcategory in this case “Dach / Roof”. However, in this case it links to an article from the subcategory “Okna” https://prnt.sc/ZjamM7vFkg0ghttps://prnt.sc/hdvNIGh8NXMW
I would like the previous and next article sections to show only articles from subcategories and not from the whole parent category.

    Third problem:
The third problem is exactly the same as the second problem. It is related to the sidebar on the right https://prnt.sc/RHn1OaRVB9pH, where I would also like to display only posts for subcategories and not all that are in the parent category. The sidebar was also created in GeneratePress in Elements and I also used GenerateBlocks for this.

I have been using your solutions for quite a long time, but only now have I noticed these problems after an SEO audit.

I am using GeneratePress Premium and GenerateBlocks Pro. I have all plugins updated to the latest version and the theme. Before reporting this problem, I disabled the WP Rocket plugin, which is responsible for caching on the site.

I would also like to add that I tried disabling all plugins on the sites reported above and left only the GP Premium, GenerateBlocks and GenerateBlocks Pro plugins, but this did not solve my problems.

    Hi there,

lets deal with the first issue.

    1. Make sure you have the latest version of GP Premium installed ie. 2.3
    2. Edit your Block Element -> Post Navigation.
    3. Select the column Container Block for the Next post.
    4. In the Layout set the REMOVE CONTAINER CONDITION to No Next Post
    5. Repeat this for the Previous post

    Hi David,

    1. I went to the Elements section then in Block – Post Navigation https://prnt.sc/ojO4e0nKU8hD

    2. I selected the container and there it was already set to “No next post” and “No previous post” – https://prnt.sc/CbrtXgpxoZrnhttps://prnt.sc/FRhqdwmTSzrR

This applied to the first site extra-plonsk.pl
The same situation is on the second site nerdomancer.pl – https://prnt.sc/pIxJOi5zqOEhhttps://prnt.sc/PAHaEqmdare5

Unfortunately I already had these elements set up :/

    Versions:
    Theme GeneratePress: 3.3.0
    GP Premium: 2.3.0
    GenerateBlocks: 1.7.3
    GenerateBlocks Pro: 1.5.2

Do you have any page caching on the site ?

All cache plugins have been disabled on the sites I have shown in this thread. I have also tried disabling all plugins but the problem continues.

The problem also affects 7 of my other sites.

Can you try unsetting the REMOVE CONTAINER CONDITION and publish the changes.
    Then reapplying that setting.

I did exactly as you wrote on two websites, but this unfortunately did not solve the problem :/
Perhaps you would like to test it yourself?
I have created an account for you for my website. I provided the details in private information in my reply to this thread.

In the Layout options for that Container there is the Use legacy layout system can you untoggle that, and follow the steps it provides to convert that container to the new container block.

I did as you wrote on two websites, but this did not help. I converted all the blocks that were in the Post Navigation element (even the deeper nested ones).

Did you find a solution ? As the latest post on this site only has the single post nav item?

I have already written about this situation when reporting the problem. The latest post works fine and all other posts no longer work properly.

When we check the latest posts for a specific category this is the problem.

    For example, enter a category:
    https://www.extra-plonsk.pl/rozrywka
    https://www.extra-plonsk.pl/dom-i-ogrod

Then click on the latest post in the category and the navigation on the post is not correct.

The identical situation is on this website https://nerdomancer.pl/ and on 7 of my other websites.

I am having trouble replicating the issue in order to debug, so i have asked Tom to take a look.
Sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

In that case, I look forward to further information. By the way, you can also verify my next two problems that I would like to solve (they are at the beginning of my submission).

    Hi there,

I looked at this post: https://www.extra-plonsk.pl/venom-co-to-znaczy

There are no “next posts” in that category, but there are many “next posts” in other categories.

When I edited the Element and toggled “In same term”, it went away on the frontend: https://www.screencast.com/t/sKvWxx6mwKip

    Can you confirm?

It’s important to toggle this option or else “No next post” will not be true (unless there are no next posts in any category, anywhere).

    Let me know 🙂

    Hi Tom,

I confirm the way you have stated works and I have already implemented this solution on all my sites. Thank you very much for your help.

I would now like to move on to the next two problems I reported at the beginning of this thread.

I would like us to focus on solving these problems on my website https://swojewdomu.pl/, as this is where the parent and sub categories are located. I’m very keen to get this problem resolved, as I’m now going to create some websites that will be based on just such a category structure, and I’d like the linking between posts to work only for the subordinate category and not include all the posts from the parent category.

This is a very important issue because I need to improve internal linking, which is very important in SEO.

I am sending the login details for this website in a private information.

Let me additionally copy the information I included at the beginning of this thread.
