Hello Support at GP !

I have a Q&A section.
They are posts, not pages.
Commenting is enabled.

Each Q&A has four parts:
title ... question ... my response ... commenting.

Is there a way to set things up so that
my response can be opened and closed?

If yes, I will set things up so that
my response are always closed, but readers
can open them up, read, and then close.

Thank you.

John

Hi John,

To clarify, how does response work? Is this something static? Moreover, when the “response” is closed, does this mean commenting is closed?

If the Q&A are post types, you’ll be able to control if commenting would be open or closed. If you deem to disallow commenting, past comments will still appear. Readers just wont be able to comment. Readers wont have control with regards to this(if comments are allowed or disallowed).

More importantly, the “I will set things up so that
my response are always closed, but readers
can open them up, read, and then close.” part seems to need custom coding, or a third party plugin if there is any.

Here are some articles I found with regards to the best Q&A plugins:

Hope this helps! :)

That was super fast and super helpful.
Thanks, Fernando !

You've helped me get clarity on why I envision.
I most definitely do not want customization done.

I believe in keeping the site as simple and clean as possible:
WordPress + GeneratePress + only necessary plugins.

A better way to handle this has just occurred to me.
You folks at GP-Support are first-class !
