[Resolved] Post ID Showing Up in Slugs

Hi there,

My post ID numbers are showing up in my slugs/URLs and I don’t want them to. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

For example, new posts come up like this: sitename.com/1392/name_of_post. I just want the URL/slug to look like this: sitename.com/name_of_post.

Hi there,

can you check the structure you have in Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks.

Ah. It’s set to sitename:/%post_id%/%postname%/

Can I just delete the %post_id% element? Will that screw up existing posts?

Select the Post name option from the list, and then click Save Changes which will rebuild your permalinks
