please help with serve scaled image

i'm getting low pagespeed score on gtmetrix because of different image size used in homepage. i think it was caused by 1.10 gp premium plugin because when i made the web first time it wasnt there. i've read https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-image-sizes/ but still dont understand how to correct it in my website. Could you show me a way to generate different thumbnails? Will it make media library have many double image?

try going to Customizer > Layout > Blog --> Featured Images:

For the Archives select a Media Attachment of a smaller size eg. Medium
