Placeholder text for Navigation Search?

Hello there,
I'm using the option Navigation Search in my primary navigation. It works nicely, but I think the user could not instantly realize the fact he can digit some text after the transparent box appears - so I was wondering how to put a text placeholder for the input field?
Any idea would be appreciated! Many thanks
