pesky widgets just wont go away

hi Tom,

Starting on a new site and somehow the 'search' and 'archives' widgets are permanently there.
Tried re-installing Wordpress, GeneratePress, and everything. Tried deleting the cache. Nothing. It just stays there. And the widgets are not showing in the Widgets menu to delete them.

Hi there,

Those are default widgets added when you are using a sidebar layout but have not added any widgets. They are there just to fill the space.

If you don't want a sidebar, this should help: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/sidebar-layout/
