Performance issue

Hi there,

I recently had the feeling that my site is loading very slowly which is why I checked the page speed on https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/. The result was very bad (red / 14). After deactivating Smart Slider 3, the result went up to 17 which is not really an improvement. I'm only using standard plugins, so I have no idea how to deal with this. Can you maybe point me to how to improve my site speed?

Hi there,

test your site on https://gtmetrix.com - and go to the WaterFall report to see the main issue.

1. There is large amount of waiting time on the first request over 5 seconds - this is server related - you should speak to your host about this.

2. The site is making 127 requests and loading 2mb of data. This is very high. Most of these requests are being made from the various plugins you're using. To compare: the GP Theme only makes 2 requests on a clean install, and the generatepress.com site only makes a total of 32 requests.

You should deal with issue #1 first and then see if you need to act on #2
