Pages too slow in google speed insights

Hi,

For some reason my website is very slow in google tests. The home page seems to be going well but any other article is slow.

I am using autoptimize and w3 cache, if I disable them the speed drops dramatically. I don't have many plugins installed and I've been trying to disable some but I don't see what might be happening. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
Ramon

Hi there,

could make some improvements regarding fonts:

1. Customizer > General -> Icon Type - change this to SVG.
2. In Customizer > Typography > Body - remove the font variants you're not using:

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/google-font-variants/

Simple click eg. x300 tag to remove it. The less variants the better.

Hi David, thanks for your answer.

It seems to have improved a little but it is still in yellow numbers, it should be at least green.
Google complains about the main threat (see image).

Any other advice would be a great help.

I checked the Home and a Single Post on Pagespeed insights - both Mobile and Desktop are over 90 in their rating. Which is great for a magazine style site.

Is there a specific post i need to look at ?

All the single posts that I am checking on page insights are below 90 on mobile, currently around 80. See Screenshot.

Insights informs me that my pages are slow on mobile. FCP issue: more than 3s

This is my test same post:

Googles tests are 'estimated' - you will see this vary from test to test and once they get some real world data you'll see more improvements.

My throttled 3G network tests are showing 2sec load time.

Ok David, I'll wait until google gets real world data. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome - great site btw and it loads fast for me :)
