Page Hero - GP 1.12 vs GP 2.0

I had a chance to try GP 2.0 Alpha on a test site and was wondering if there were any advantages to using the Block element instead of the current Header element? I prefer using the Header element, but wanted to know:
1. Will the Header page hero element continue to be supported alongside the Block page hero in future releases?
2. Are there any speed/performance advantages by using the Block element to create a page header/hero?
GP 2.0 plus GB is looking great by the way :)

1. Yes Header Element will continue to be supported.
2. No - i doubt there are any performance differences as both methods only output the HTML and CSS necessary for the element. Theres no extra CSS requests being made and neither use JS unless you use the parallax option on the header element.

Is there a general time-scale as to when the final GP 2.0 might be released?
I'm working on a website which uses a page header/hero, so wasn't sure if I should continue using the Header element to build this, or wait for the next GP release.

I would expect at least another 2 weeks of testing before we reach final release.
