    Hi dear GeneratePress team,

first let me say, that i really enjoy working with GeneratePress, especially since the new theme builder.

I haven’t found another topic on this question. So i hope it’s OK to open up a new.

Something i really miss out in GP is the possibility to set paddings and margins in rem.
I know there are some good reasons to do so, but it would be great to have the possibility in customizer and generateblocks.

In one of my last projects, i’ve build the layout with some larger white spaces for container, sections, columns and layoutblocks in desktop layout (6rem for column spacing, 5 and 10rem for layoutblocks and container spacing, based on 16px html). When it comes to Laptop screen sizes (1440px and less) i only had to change html to 75% or 12px and everything is done (also for tablet and, with some little adjustments, for mobile).

At this time I had to write everything as extra css in the customizer. It’s ok, but it would be much more comfortable to do so directly in the customizer and Generateblocks.

Are there any plans to add rem for paddings and margins in the future?

Thanks for your support in advance.

    I second this.

    My wish list would be:

More markup controls on gb blocks: example article, main, header, footer – on container
REMS available as units … almost everywhere!
CSS variables everywhere … so we can only set the variables in css, and then use theme system wide.
Dynamic icons — or rather, globaly updateable.

    Customizable brakepoints.
With this there would be very little coding I need to do CSS wise.

Still … GP/GB is the best.

    Cheers!

    Hi Martin,

the Spacing module in GP is up for review. So we will consider REMs in there when that occurs.

The new Dynamic Typography released in 3.1 supports REM and has a option for the Root/HTML size so REMs can be adjusted there – so the foundations are in place.

And this will mean we can add them to GenerateBlocks under Typography and Spacing controls.
That will probably be after the next updates as we’re focusing on GB Query Blocks and Accordions at the moment.

    Thanks for the suggestions !!

    Hi David,

thank you for this really quick answer and it’s great to read that the whole topic is under review.
And as Elvis suggests, more markup controls would be great.
Looking forward for the upcomming updates.

    Kind Regards
    Martin
