Optimum Image Size to Upload
5 replies · Started by RJ on November 24, 2020
Hey there - I am wanting some image sizes (photos) to be W750px by H563px. And they need to be very high definition across multiple devices without slowing page load.
What is the actual pixel size I should create these images?
I see so much confusing information online.
TIA, Robin
Hi there,
to take advantage of 4k and Retina Screens you will want to double the amount of pixels eg. 1500px x 1126px.
But more pixels equals more KB.
There are some good Desktop Compression apps out that will help make the files smaller.
I use ImageOptim which is for the Mac Only, but here they provide some other OS alternatives:
Many thanks David.
Out of interest, do you "enable Lossy minification"?
Best, Robin
Cautiously :) More lossy is great for reducing file size but will impact the quality. If I need to i try to keep it above 70%.
Worth doing a few samples to see whats acceptable before hitting all your images.
Many thanks.
