Optimize CSS Delivery

Hi I was wondering whats the best way to optimize css delivery for generate press?

I have noticed that CSS url for the site is changing with the newer versions of theme and premium plugin.

I looked into it, but I am wondering is the version of theme and premium being appended to css and js

Do I need to do something in autoptimize that will update the version number for future releases?

or Did I get this whole thing wrong?

The version number you see appended to the files is added by the theme/WordPress. It will update automatically when we release new versions :)

is there any alternative to criticalcss.com? I am trying to avoid having to pay for monthly services.

I think some premium caching plugins have a critical CSS option, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
