Old HTML Site to GP Premium

I am slowly (as in, very super slowly) converting an old HTML site to WordPress with GeneratePress.
My biggest issue at this stage is how to emulate the current home page (https://www.anabaptists.org) as a WordPress page that functions as the static home page.
I assume I would create a special page template that has all the html code for the current home page.
Would the fastest way to do this with GP be to use an existing GP page template as the "foundation" for the special page template?
Or does GP Premium (which I have) provide an easier way to do this?
Thanks,
Mark
Hi there,
I think the easiest way would be to replicate that look using GenerateBlocks:

Thank you, Leo, for your astonishingly fast reply.
I will have to learn GenerateBlocks and that GutenStuff...later. No time now to invest in the learning curves involved. (I still use the Classic Editor plugin even.)
Meanwhile, I guess I'll stick with what I already know how to do and create a special one-use page template as a stop-gap measure.
My plan is to share the result of my work here. Then I plan to mark this as resolved. Is it OK to do it that way?
Sure!
OK, I just did a blog post explaining what I did:
Thanks for sharing!
