Not using Google Fonts API, but fonts.google.api still being called?

I'm trying to optimize the speed of my site and I can see in google page speed insights that i'm still making calls to the google fonts api even though I have that disabled in the typography section of the theme.
Can you help me out here?

I can see a link being added to the WP_head area, but I can't tell who added it.

Can you try disabling all plugins to test?
If the issue is gone, try de-activate one at a time to find out which one is requesting the Google fonts.
