Newsroom Theme (Pro): Where to put RSS shortcode
1 reply · Started by Joan on January 19, 2023
I'm using the Newsroom Theme from the site library. I see there are several categories of posts. I'm also using WP RSS Aggregator and have several feeds that are categorized. I have Generate Blocks as well. Ultimately, I want to have several feeds in different categories displayed in their own place on my site. Perhaps I'm being a total TechTard here; however, after several days of looking for where to put the shortcode for the RSS feed so it shows up in the proper category, I'm at a loss.
I can get posts to show up in ALL categories; however, I don't see where to have a particular category only show up in one category. For example, if I have a post with the lifestyle category, how do I get it to only show up in the lifestyle area of the Newsroom theme? I'm a visual learner so pics are welcome.
If this requires a special code, please provide an example so that I can modify it for my needs. I'm not afraid of digging into the code.
Hi Joan,
To clarify, are you looking to get Posts from a different site from specific categories, and then display them respectively in category archive pages on your site?
If so, you can try getting the feed specifically from a category archive page of a site, and then add the Shortcode to your site through a Hook Element. Reference: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-element-overview/
Here are some hooks you can choose from in Archive pages: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-visual-guide/#archives
So for instance, if you have a shortcode to display a feed for Arts, you can use a Hook Element like this:
