    Hi,

I have just started using the GeneratePress theme with GP Premium (v. 1.2.94), along with Beaver Builder Plugin (Lite Version) and PowerPack for Beaver Builder.

Really enjoying working on this and I have already created 4 or 5 pages.

I am about to do some customisations (to the menu, CSS, etc).

    Questions are:
    – should I install / activate a Child Theme?
    If so:
    – can you send me some detailed instructions? and most importantly:
    – will I lose the customization I have applied to my site? (there is no custom CSS, just the usual: Site Identity, Layout, colors, Typography, etc)
    – is my content safe or will I need to redo all my pages?

Hope to hear from you soon so I can continue working on my site safely.

    Thank you!
    Manu

    Hi Manu,

This page should answer those questions: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-child-theme/

If you are only using the customizer options then child theme is definitely not needed.

Let me know if this helps.

    Hi Leo,

Thanks for the info. I feel safer having the child theme as we will most likely do a lot of custom work. I think I got it working. My active theme is now:

GeneratePress ChildVersion: 0.1 By Thomas Usborne
Default GeneratePress child theme (This is a child theme of GeneratePress).

    and I will always update:
    GeneratePressVersion: 1.3.45 By Tom Usborne.

    That should work, right?
    Manu
