How to get the GP 3.0 layout after updating from GP 2.x?

Love the new layout in GP 3.0 beta documentation
However, since I'm upgrading from GP 2, my previous layout stays
How can I use the new layout?

Try this.
1. Enable Menu Plus module in Appearance > GeneratePress.
2. Enable Navigation as Header in Customizer > Layout > Header
3. Change your nav colors in Customizer > Colors > Primary Nav
4. Increase the Container Width to 1200px in Customizer > Layout > Container.
The other changes are primary font sizes and padding which has been reduced from 40px to 30px in the content and sidebars.

I made some progress but cannot manage to put the site name font in black (it should be on the corner top left)

You can change its color in Customizer > Color > Header --> Site Title.
As a note - its worth disable the SG Optimizer when you're customizing this will eliminate any cache issues
