Need to add wp_remote_post
14 replies · Started by Łukasz Przeniosło on May 4, 2017
Hello there,
I have installed wordpress on my university server. I have added Generate Press theme to it and it works. I cannot update it however. The site ( https://docs.generatepress.com/article/license-key-activation-issues/ ) advises me to use wp_remote_post function. The problem is I have no idea in where I should run the code (in which file). I am not familiar with php at all. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out.
I am using GP version 1.3.40 now.
Hi there,
So you are not getting any specific error when updating?
You might have to contact your host as suggested in the article.
Let us know :)
Yes, no error message. But the point is I am the host, I installed wordpress.
You're managing your own server? If so, you need to make sure cURL is enabled on the server in order for updates to work.
No, I only have access to this particular wordpress installation. Im a regular linux user without root privileges. Is this an obstacle? If so, is there another way to update GP?
You might be able to try manual update?

Wont I loose my whole config?
No you won't :)
As long as you haven't made any changes to core functions/files.
Alright, thanks.
You can contact your actual hosting provider and ask them to make sure cURL is enabled.
When you said you can't update - what stops you? An error message? Nothing happens at all?
I dont think my university admin will care about me tbh. When I click update nothing happens, no refresh, no message, no anything.
Very strange - the server admin would have to look into it.
If that's not possible then I'm afraid you're stuck with manual updates. This plugin makes the process easier: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades/
can you tell me where to add and how to add.
Hi there,
can you start a new topic and explain the exact issue you're having
