Navigation search - doesn't work after adding the placeholder gist

Hi Tom,
I am trying to add https://gist.github.com/generatepress/c7436fb9e326586822a2fcd81e0d480e to my functions.php. Without the snippet the search is perfect, but with it the search works on the desktop version only. On the mobile version you see the magnifier, you can click it, see the cross - that's all.
Any advise is highly appreciated.

The site is a local one. How can I mark the response as a private one, once the site is moved to the remote server?
Can you actually copy that code again and try re-adding it? I made an adjustment a couple weeks ago that might fix it :)
