    Hi,

I read through the article and some other articles but couldn’t really find what the search function does.

I implemented the search function on my site but I am not sure what it is searching, i have tried to search for the title of my pages but the results are always empty and some filler text. I would like the search function to search for posts and events that I will add into my site using a calender plugin (any suggestion of which to use?).

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Are you looking to modify the navigation search HTML markup?

If so this filter should help:
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_navigation_search_output/

See some examples of the usage:
    https://generatepress.com/forums/search/generate_navigation_search_output/

    Hi there,

Thanks for the link, I read through it and also implemented the code in the searchform.php tried both inside and outside of the form but do not realize any difference. Could you explain to me what the generate_navigation_search_output does?

What I was asking was more what the exisiting search does? Does it search the whole site using keywords and returning each page that has that keyword? Or does it search the post title/page title? Is it possible to set what to be search?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

the navigation search uses the WP Search function which searches titles and post content. To be honest, its not very good. If you want more advances searches functions you may want to check out a plugin like Relevanssi.
