What browser are you using. Some browsers don't support all formats like SVGs. A safe format would be something like PNG.

It's in PNG already. Using Google web browser in the search results before clicking on my website it has the regualr WordPress icon instead of my logo

Oh I see. Sometimes it requires a re-index of your home page and a few day wait for Google to update the logo.
