Multiple H1 tag question

Using Search GP premium theme and one of the elements is an H1 tag for posts. Would this count as the main H1 tag for the post, leaving me free to hide post title within the post itself?

Yes that's right. And it's actually advised to have only 1 h1 tag as you'll get SEO flags if you have duplicate h1 tags.
If the Block Element is of Page hero type, there's a toggle for it to automatically disable the default post title as indicated here - https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-page-hero/#disable-title
Really helpful knowing there is a toggle right in the elements section! Saved me from disabling title in every post. Thanks!
