Moving buttons

Is there a trick to moving Buttons where you want them??

When I tried to drag a GB button to a new location, I couldn't get it to sit where I wanted it; instead it plopped itself down between 2 paragraphs within a Paragraph Block just above my desired location.

While I eventually got it moved where I wanted it (after trying 12 or 15 times to drag it), it had apparently auto-created a block with a Gutenberg button it, in between the 2 paragraphs of text in the Paragraph Block where it originally landed.

This in turn thrust my website into a continual “updating” mode. I could only get out of it by refreshing the page and hoping it had actually saved the last thing I wanted. When I went back to look at the Autosave version, I saw the self-generated block with a Gutenberg Button Block in it.

any ideas why that happened or how to make sure it doesn’t happen again?
