I’m moving web hosts. I’ve got a pretty basic site that I haven’t touched in a few months, and now that I’m looking into it, I see that GP has been updated to 3.x. In order to take advantage of the updated code in GP 3, should I create a new site and just try to set it up again to match my existing, or is it totally fine to just move over my existing site (or have my host move it)?
as long as the jump between versions is not huge then switching to 3.x should not affect your site in any way. By default 3.0 will keep your original 2.x theme settings.
Once 3.x is enabled, if you then wish to test out the improved flex box version, you can go to Customizer > General and change the Structure to Flex. If all hell breaks loose then switch back to floats…. if nothing noticeable changes then welcome to 3.x 🙂
Thanks for the reply on this! I tested out the Flex on my old site to make sure it didn’t break, but then ended up just going from scratch and recreating my site on my new host to defamiliarize myself with everything (and added some comments this time in my Elements).
