More Menu Locations?
3 replies · Started by Sneaky on May 23, 2022
I note that GeneratePress only has 3 menu locations, primary, secondary and off-canvas. There is no option to add another menu location.
I am wanting to use 3 locations, above header (secondary), below header (primary) and a footer menu, which I cannot assign.
Is there a way I can add a location?
Hi Sneaky,
It’s possible and here’s a thread where Tom Discusses how to do as such: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/add-third-navigation-menu-gpp-1-8/#post-873635

Another easier approach would be to simply create a menu through a Block Element instead.

Hope this clarifies. :)
OK thanks, I will see what I can do based on that discussion and the code provided. It will need a tweak to allow me to add it to a specific location in the footer.
If I have more questions or still cannot get it to work I will report back here.
BTW, it would be a feature request to allow more menu locations as new options in the customiser.
Thanks
Actually, I just realized that WordPress already recently introduced a Navigation Block for instances when you want to add a new menu Block.
Here is an article for more information with regards to it: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2022/01/07/the-new-navigation-block/
You may also opt to use this if you prefer.
As menus can already be created through this way and through Block Elements, we’ll consider if a feature request for such a functionality is needed or if it may just bulk up the theme.
Hope this clarifies. :)
