Mobile Menu Not Working with Async Javascript plugin

Tom posted an article about optimising GeneratePress by installing Autoptimize and Async Javascript plugins.
I installed them a few weeks ago. Autoptimize sometimes causes issues using Elementor in the backend so I deactivated it while building.
The mobile menu was working fine all evening and suddenly stopped. I deactivated Async Javascript plugin and it started working again. How can this be if it worked fine with it until now?

Can you try adding this into the "Exclusions" field in the Async options?: jquery.js
