Mobile Menu does not show my Mobile Menu, still shows Primary Menu

Yes, I assigned the menu to the correct location "Off Canvas" - From what I've read, this is the correct thing, but in all of the other themes I've used, there's simply a menu location called "Mobile Menu".
The goal is that I need a different menu for mobile than for desktop. If there is a better way, then let me know. Usually this is a super simple process -- not sure what I'm missing here -- but I didn't expect to have to read documentation on how to make this happen.

the Off Canvas menu is the only 'simple' way of adding a separate menu for mobile ( or desktop ).
