mobile menu always - 2 'X' closers showing

at the private link, you'll see that if you click the mobile icon, the off panel canvas menu appears at right, but with an x on both the menu panel AND where the 3 line mobile icon normally is. why? and how can i have it only show in one of the two places?

i took a snip, uploaded, and added link to it into private area.
issue shows on screen at least 1920 wide.

Instead of changing the breakpoint, can you use this method instead?
